We'll All Float On : Float Fest Preview 2018
For its fifth year, Float Fest will return to Central Texas along the San Marcos River at Cool River Ranch from July 21 - July 22. The festival has curated a mix of alternative, rap, indie rock, and EDM performers. The headliners include Tame Impala, Bassnectar, Snoop Dogg, Modest Mouse, Run The Jewels, Cold War Kids, and Lil Wayne. Float Fest is the only festival on the map that has combined the Texas tradition of floating the river and live musical performances.
Loud Music's Float Fest Spotlight
Austin’s own A Giant Dog will be performing at this year’s Float Fest. The band released their senior album, Toy, a year ago and have toured it heavily with some huge names in the industry. Just last weekend A Giant Dog opened up for California punk band, Jawbreaker, for their much anticipated reunion tour after 21 years apart, in which Austin was the only Texas show played. Prior to this, AGD was on the bill for tours with artists such as Jack White and Against Me!. Festival-goers that enjoy rowdy, raucous, high energy rock and roll, will not want to miss this incredible performance.
This will be AGD’s first year at the festival, although the band’s leads, Sabrina Ellis and Andrew Cashen, played with their side project, Sweet Spirit, for the first time at the festival last year and did not disappoint. The two bands both have a die-hard following in Austin and never fail to put on a rock solid performance.
A Giant Dog plays on Sunday, July 22nd on the Sun Stage at 3pm.
This will be the second to last stop on the the bands summer tour. Be ready to hear new tunes from their upcoming album. This will be the bands first full length album produced by Austin-based Dwight Baker (The Wind and The Wave). This will be the duos first time at float fest and is sure to be a fun performance where they'll push their creative limits as always.
The Wild Now plays on Saturday, July 21 on the Sun Stage at 2pm.
This will be Bronze Whale's first time at Float Fest. We hope to hear some of their most recent singles in 2018 "Warm", "Patterns", and "Gold Grain". What is really cool about this duo is they do not seem to fall into one genre. They both have such broad spectrums of musical backgrounds that through their production, they have created their own sound ranging from trap to funk.
Bronze Whale plays on Saturday, July 21 on the Water Stage at 2:30pm.
Ready to start jamming the musicians for this upcoming Float Fest? Look no further!
Due to unfortunate circumstances Glass Animals had to cancel and have been replaced with Cold War Kids. You can see the full schedule below:
We cannot wait to immerse ourselves in the music [and the river]. Do not forget to stay hydrated, apply lots of sunscreen, and of course, bring your best dance moves. Meet ya on the river!
Tickets for the weekend and single day passed are still available here.
